How we met…
We met at a college party in Reno, Nevada in 2020, where we were paired together for a game of pool. It was one of those fun, chaotic nights, and while neither of us expected much to come from it, we somehow exchanged numbers, although one of us may have enjoyed the night a little too much and completely forgotten about it the next day.
Two weeks later, we reconnected when one of us came across the contact in a phone and decided to take a chance by sending a message, which luckily paid off.
After that, we kept talking and gradually got to know each other more and more. It didn’t take long for us to realise how much we enjoyed each other’s company, and we started finding any excuse to spend time together.
Eventually, we went on our first proper date, which consisted of In-N-Out Burger and somehow also involved one of us picking the other up (Daniel being passenger princess). Surprisingly, this romantic first date worked, and years later we’re still together, stronger than ever, and about to start our next chapter together.
The proposal…
We got engaged on December 23rd in the Botanical Gardens in Melbourne, while Kenna’s family was in town for the holidays. It was a perfect day in the gardens, which made it even more special because it was one of the first places we visited together when Kenna first came to Australia.
Daniel likes to think the proposal was a complete surprise, although the “quick” trip to the gardens, paired with a couple of shower beers beforehand, may have raised a few suspicions. Everything went to plan, aside from Daniel initially walking straight past the exact spot picked out with the photographer.
Afterwards, we took some time to enjoy the moment together before heading to Yarra Botanica on the water, where we celebrated with family and friends on a perfect sunny day by the river. Unfortunately for Kenna, the proposal also meant missing out on the nice Italian dinner she had planned, but it was a pretty good trade-off.
